The Atlanta Braves started out in Boston but moved to Atlanta in 1966. At that time, home run hall of famer Hank Aaron was carrying the team, edging them closer and closer to post season victory but always coming up just shy of the championship. Hank Aaron excited the fans and filled the seats as he tied and broke many records including those set by Babe Ruth, but a World Series Championship was not accomplished until way after his time in 1995. The Atlanta Braves currently play at Turner Stadium and have played there since 1997, after several successful seasons in the 90's showed the fans that they were there to stay. The Atlanta Braves' post-season victories include only one World Series Championship out of five World Series appearances and five National League pennants in addition to sixteen division championships.
The Atlanta Braves have started out this season with a winning record of 32-29, placing them in third in the NL East division. The season is still young and the Atlanta Braves are infamous for their mid-season runs, so they have every chance of posting a decent playoff run for this 2008 season. Their team is led by 5-time All-Star, 2-time Silver Slugger Award winner and former MVP, Chipper Jones, and 8-time All-Star John Smoltz with his great pitching from the mound. Manager Bobby Cox has been with the team since 1990, attempting this season to bring all the new acquisitions and superstars together towards that one goal of a World Series Championship. Tickets are selling fast as fans watch and wait to see if their Atlanta Braves can bring back the championship to Atlanta where it belongs.
